Letter to Members – April 23, 2024
Hello everyone!
This is just a quick note to debrief a few recent events and remind you of some important ones
coming up.
We held our Fast Track event at the clubhouse last Thursday and it was fantastic. About twenty
people attended, there was a lot of great information, and lots of questions and discussion. Thank
you to everyone who came out, especially our speakers. As this is National Volunteer Week, let
me say THANK YOU to everyone who gets out and puts in some time to assist at events. You
are the reason it all happens.
One of the speakers at Fast Track, Maxime McNeil, talked about the modifications needed to make a rally car. We admired everything under the hood of Johnny Summers’ car.
This Saturday, we will be running the Mudlark TSD Rally. Stay tuned for photos! Thanks, Pete

Next Thursday, May 2, is our monthly board meeting. We meet at the clubhouse (4215 – 80
Avenue NE) at 6:30pm if you want to start watching a movie with us or 7:30pm if you want to
attend the meeting, followed by finishing the movie. I’m not sure yet which one we’re going to
watch, but I’m thinking “Grand Prix” (James Garner, 1966). We’ll also have cake, because …
you’ll see.
Saturday, May 4 is our lapping day at Rocky Mountain Motorsports. You can find more info
here: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/cscc-lapping-rmm-may-4-rocky-mountainmotorsports-circuit-calgary-sports-081052. Do sign up and come out to support the club. Plus,
it’s the lowest-cost way to drive RMM.
The next Rally Test Day will be on Sunday, May 5. From the website: “This is a rally car test
day. The test day will be run following the principles of the CARS National Rallysprint
Regulations. Unofficial timing may be available, but there will be no scoring of the event. This
is a great opportunity to learn the systems before your next event. Registration is open and
volunteers are needed and welcome. Contact Rob Jackett at rob.jackett@cscc.ab.ca.
Many other events are coming up and they are listed on our handy Race Dates 2024 document,
attached to the e-mail in case that’s helpful to you.
And, finally, I was contacted by a member who pointed out that weekly car shows are once again
happening at Lift King. I can’t find much information on that, myself, to confirm, but you can
follow Lift King on Facebook and see if you get updates, if this interests you:
