High Performance Driver Education
The Calgary Sports Car Club hosts High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) events throughout the year. These events are at local, permanent tracks in the province and focus on helping drivers learn how to drive safely while exploring the capabilities of their vehicle.
These events involve classroom sessions, in car instructors for novices or as requested to ensure safety throughout the day for all participants. Passing is only permitted in designated areas on the track and drivers must acknowledge the pass.
The HPDE events are open to anyone with a valid driver’s who wants to improve his/her driving skills. Participants must provide their own vehicle.
RECENT HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING EVENT
Our latest HPDE event at Rocky Mountain Motorsports was a total success. We started the afternoon with a lead follow session to familiarize all participants with the track and the rules. We then had in car instructors for a training session on safe passing to orient new drivers to Rocky Mountain Motorsports to passing zones and rules. Finally, we finished the night with a long open lapping session for all drivers.
It was a great learning experience for all, but most importantly, it was a chance to get drivers with limited track experience an opportunity to learn more about lapping and build skills with instructor led sessions.
