2010 "Summer" Novice Rally

Glyn Hersom / Andrea Witko - 95 Honda Civic
1st overall + 1st novice at 2010 Northern Loon TSD Rally

The second CSCC Novice TSD Rally is set for Saturday, August 7th.

While the event is geared towards beginners, due to the nature of the roads (gravel/dirt/mud?) some driving proficiency is required.

In addition to an insured, registered and maintained vechicle, you will require a first aid kit and a 30cm warning triangle. (see our sponsor). A set of mudflaps are also recommended.

For teams wishing to learn the basic navigational and mathematical skills required for TSD rallying there will be a short novice school before the event. Please RSVP the Organiser (via email) if you will be attending.

This is a great way to shake off the rust before the Loop Rally which runs overnight on September 18/19th 2010.

The rally runs on straight-forward instructions. The rally will be about 350km long, entirely within the province of Alberta. An odometer check section of about 10km will be provided. Roads will be about 30% pavement, 70% gravel and all mileage will be provided in KM units.

Final Results

Congrats to Glyn Hersom & Andrea Witko who drove solidly to earn first by a narrow margin of 9 seconds in their 98 Legacy. Spence and Nicole did well in their Volvo wagon to end up second in only their second ever TSD event while 3rd place went to Ceilidh and Evan Munroe who had fun piloting their parents Mazda over some interesting terrain.

Huge thanks to our checkpointers; John + Marjorie Munroe, Brad Derzaph and Kris Schofield.. you guys rock!

The Loop Rally is the next Championship event and will run overnight on Sept 18/19 2010. The next Novice TSD will be November 13th 2010 a little bit closer to Calgary.

See you 'round!
