2012 Mudlark Rally The 2012 Mudlark TSD Rally has been CANCELLED :(
Competitors will experience an evening of exploration and discovery on carefully selected pavement, gravel, dirt and mud roads with the odd 'goat trail' thrown in for good luck. While the event is geared towards novice teams, due to the nature of the roads (gravel, dirt and mud) and the late start (sunset to sunrise) some driving proficiency is required. The rally will start in Calgary, break twice for gas/food and then finish bright and early somewhat close to Calgary. Trophies will be awarded for overall finishing position and class wins (Paper/Calculator/Unlimited and Novice). Teams wishing to brush up on their navigational (and mathematical) skills or for anyone unfamiliar with the concept of Time Speed Distance navigation, there is a novice course at the clubhouse on the Thursday before the event. This is not a mandatory course for new competitors but it is highly recommended. Please let us know if you will be attending. The 2012 Mudlark Rally is the second TSD event of the year hosted by the Calgary Sports Car Club, and is once again the third event in the Rally West TSD Championship. The rally runs on straight-forward instructions. In addition to the route instructions, maps will be provided for recovery purposes. The rally will be about 500km long, entirely within the province of Alberta. An odometer check section of about 20km will be provided. Roads will be about 30% clear pavement, 70% gravel and all instructions will be provided in KM units. |

Bulletins Monday May 7, 07:00 - Mudlark Cancelled All, Unfortunately, I will have to cancel Mudlark, as at this point in time, we've only got three entries. This is not enough to make the event viable. I'd like to thank all who have indicated their intent to volunteer, and Wim and Kurt for helping get things set up over the past few weeks. Please keep check of the forums and websites, as I believe the next TSD will be the Heart of Darkness put on by Rally BC (www.rallybc.com) in July??. On another note, given that this is the second TSD this year that we've had to cancel due to lack of entries, I'd like to get some feedback from the TSD community on what the state of affairs is - are people too busy; do we have too many/little events; are we not promoting the events enough; are they the wrong types of events; are the dates in later spring/summer not workable; etc.? Any feedback would be helpfull. John Tuesday May 8, 00:00 - Prerun Video There will be another novice TSD event scheduled sometime in the late summer and the next championship event will be the Loop Rally running overnight on Sept 22/23 2012 in Southern Alberta. |
