Congratulations to Josh Keatley and Leanne Junnila who placed 1st Overall and 1st in Calculator class. Novices Sean Mortimer and Edouard Kassianoff finished 2nd Overall and 1st Novice in their first ever TSD event. Way to go guys! A BIG thanks to all the checkpointers: Peter Hill, Neil Wright, Spencer Armstrong and Kris & Jaclyn Schofield. 31 checkpoints were manned during the event. All in all it was a fun event, I've learned that 25+45 != 60... next time there will be more than 15 minutes for lunch! See you all at the Northern Loon (aka Magical History Tour) on Sunday June 1st. The Loon is a brisk yet educational event that starts in Edmonton and finishes in St. Albert . It uses some of the oldest trails in Alberta. See www.edmontonrallyclub.ca for details. Results

2008 Mudlark Rally The 2008 Mudlark (hopefully with some mud this year :) is set for Satuday, April 26th.
The rally will start in Claresholm before noon, break once for gas/food in the afternoon and then finish with a BBQ at an undisclosed campground in the evening. Trophies will be awarded (depending on the number of entries) for overall finishing position, by class (Paper/Calculator/Unlimited) and for the best novice. Teams wishing to brush up on their navigational (and mathematical) skills or for anyone unfamiliar with the concept of Time Speed Distance navigation, a primer/novice course can be arranged. This is not a mandatory course for new competitors but it is highly recommended. Please notify the Organiser if you wish to attend.
The 2008 Mudlark Rally is the second TSD event of the year hosted by the Calgary Sports Car Club, and is once again the third event in the Rally West TSD Championship. The rally runs on straight-forward instructions. In addition to the route instructions, maps will be provided for recovery purposes. The rally will be about 500km long, entirely within the province of Alberta. An odometer check section of about 20km will be provided. Roads will be about 30% clear pavement, 70% gravel and all instructions will be provided in KM units. |
