Congratulations to Josh Keatley and Leanne Junnila who placed 1st Overall and 1st in Calculator class. Novices Sean Mortimer and Edouard Kassianoff finished 2nd Overall and 1st Novice in their first ever TSD event. Way to go guys!

A BIG thanks to all the checkpointers: Peter Hill, Neil Wright, Spencer Armstrong and Kris & Jaclyn Schofield. 31 checkpoints were manned during the event.

All in all it was a fun event, I've learned that 25+45 != 60... next time there will be more than 15 minutes for lunch!

See you all at the Northern Loon (aka Magical History Tour) on Sunday June 1st. The Loon is a brisk yet educational event that starts in Edmonton and finishes in St. Albert . It uses some of the oldest trails in Alberta. See www.edmontonrallyclub.ca for details.

2008 Mudlark Rally

The 2008 Mudlark (hopefully with some mud this year :) is set for Satuday, April 26th.

believe it or not their calculator is older than their car!
Competitors will experience a full day of exploration and discovery on carefully selected pavement, gravel, and dirt roads with the odd 'goat trail' thrown in for good luck. While the event is geared towards novice teams, due to the nature of the roads (gravel and dirt) some driving proficiency is required.

The rally will start in Claresholm before noon, break once for gas/food in the afternoon and then finish with a BBQ at an undisclosed campground in the evening. Trophies will be awarded (depending on the number of entries) for overall finishing position, by class (Paper/Calculator/Unlimited) and for the best novice.

Teams wishing to brush up on their navigational (and mathematical) skills or for anyone unfamiliar with the concept of Time Speed Distance navigation, a primer/novice course can be arranged. This is not a mandatory course for new competitors but it is highly recommended. Please notify the Organiser if you wish to attend.

an innocent bale of hay... or is it a hidden checkpoint?

The 2008 Mudlark Rally is the second TSD event of the year hosted by the Calgary Sports Car Club, and is once again the third event in the Rally West TSD Championship.

The rally runs on straight-forward instructions. In addition to the route instructions, maps will be provided for recovery purposes. The rally will be about 500km long, entirely within the province of Alberta. An odometer check section of about 20km will be provided. Roads will be about 30% clear pavement, 70% gravel and all instructions will be provided in KM units.

Bulletins

Friday April 25, 2008 - One more sleep!

The Finish/Results will take place at the Humpty's Restaurant in Nanton.

The Snow has pretty much disapeared. There is currently less than five locations that have a spot or two of snow on the ground. If the temperature rises enough by the afternoon, the mud may even turn to dust. Get a good night's rest and we'll see you in the morning!

Wednesday April 23, 2008 - Start Location & School

The Start Location will again be the empty lot next to the Dairy Queen in Claresholm. It is on the right at the south end just before exiting the town. The TSD school will keeping the same time/date but the location has been moved to a Dennys Restaurant, if you haven't already please email to attend.

Saturday April 19, 2008 - Prerun photos + possible schedule changes

Snow!

As things currently stand the BBQ will be postponed and moved to an indoor venue. We fully expect the roads to clear up in time for the event mostly due to local traffic or warmer temperatures.

More details are posted on the CSCC forum here.
