2007 Mudlark Rally The weather co-operated with the rain holding off until after the BBQ. The roads were in excellent shape and with the exception of a stubborn bull blocking a cattleguard on stage 3 the animals were fairly docile. A big thanks to our Volunteers: Bic Hoang (The "Other Guy" Checkpointer) P.S. Don't forget that the Loop Rally is on September 22-23! Results:

This year's event is back in the running (yay!) and is once again situated in the flowing foothills of Southern Alberta.
The rally will start before noon in Claresholm, break once for gas/food in the afternoon and then finish with a BBQ at an undisclosed campground in the evening. Trophies will be awarded for overall finishing position, by class (Paper/Calculator/Unlimited) and best novice. Teams wishing to brush up on their navigational (and mathematical) skills or for anyone unfamiliar with the concept of Time Speed Distance navigation, a primer/novice course can be arranged. This is not a mandatory course for new competitors but it is highly recommended. Please contact Kurt Schantz if you wish to attend.
The 2007 Mudlark Rally is the second TSD event of the year hosted by the Calgary
Sports Car Club, and is the The rally runs on straight-forward instructions. In addition to the route instructions, maps will be provided for recovery purposes. The rally will be about 500km long, entirely within the province of Alberta. An odometer check section of about 20km will be provided. Roads will be about 30% clear pavement, 70% gravel and all instructions will be provided in KM units. |

Bulletins Wednesday August 22, 2007 - Almost there! ![]() It looks like another hot event, let's hope the rain expected in the next couple of days is enough to remove the fire ban in time for the BBQ. I'd like to thank Subaru of Calgary for donating some Subaru swag. If any competitors are considering entering late you MUST confirm your entry by phone! Registration, Tech Inspection and the Start will be the empty lot next to the Dairy Queen in Claresholm. Teams able to navigate successfully will end up at the Nanton Campground. Good luck and see you at the event! Friday August 17, 2007 - One more weekend! There is only 1 week remaining until rally day and with the weather set to clear up during the week conditions should be perfect! The final route check will occur in the next couple of days and the official start/finish locations will be posted early next week. (All competitors who have registered or have emailed me will be contacted via phone/email with the finalised locations). Volunteers are still needed - Checkpointing is a simple and easy way to introduce yourself to TSD rallying. Please email kurt@rubberchicken.net if you are available to help out at the event. Tuesday July 03, 2007 - Prerun Pictures An initial route check has taken place and the roads are looking absolutely fabulous. Current conditions will see plenty of heat, sun and scenery including the occasional mobile beef chicane sandwiched between texas gates! (note: freshly graded roads are a delight and every single gate was super smooth) View the rest of the pictures here (or scroll to the bottom!). ![]() |
